Tony Cani

Founder, Slingshot Campaigns

Tony Cani is the founder of Slingshot Campaigns, where he advises candidates, elected officials, and advocacy organizations on communications and campaign strategy. He has a knack for distilling complex concepts into persuasive messages, turning adverse situations into opportunities, and creatively connecting with voters.

Tony has spent more than 20 years across campaigns, government, and advocacy. He ran the campaign that elected Kate Gallego mayor of Phoenix, helped deliver Arizona for Biden in 2020 as Deputy Director, and won three transportation ballot fights that secured tens of billions for transit and infrastructure across Arizona, including saving Phoenix's light rail expansion. He has driven coverage of stories the press would have skipped, and his work has defined political opponents in their own words, gone viral, and aired on national late-night shows and cable news. Before founding Slingshot, he was Senior Policy Advisor to the mayors of Phoenix and Tempe and served as National Political Director of the Sierra Club.

Tony is a regular political analyst on TV, radio, and in print, known among journalists as an expert in Arizona politics and an honest but fierce advocate unafraid of taking on hard fights for clients he believes in.
